Maxine was born to Owen Cyrus Wehr and Gertrude Mae (Connor) Wehr in Ainsworth Iowa. She attended Cotter High School and graduated from the College of Nursing at the University of Iowa.
After graduation she held a number of nursing positions, most notably as an ICU nurse at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital.
In 1949, Maxine met Jack W. Clemens while traveling on the Rock Island Rocket. Max and Jack were married in 1951 and had two children, Cathy and Michael.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, and brother, Alvin Wehr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara, granddaughter and husband, Elizabeth Clemens and Don Baker, and sister, Rhea Shearer.
A private burial will occur at a later time.
