“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, especially now that Nancy Lautenbach has found her way to heaven. Dutch through and through, Nancy’s heritage sparked her lifelong devotion to helping the world be neat and tidy one room at a time.
Nancy passed away March 7, 2016, from complications related to Lewy Bodies Dementia. She was born July 6, 1929, in Pella, IA, the youngest child of Maggie and Dirk Bogaard. Nancy married Robert L. Fox in 1949, a union from which three daughters were born. In addition to raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, Nancy’s interests included traveling, camping, taking long walks in beautiful places, gardening, and biking. She was also a lifelong member of The Girl Scouts of America. Iowa born and raised, Nancy moved to Carlsbad, CA and spent 25 active years there before returning “home” to Iowa in her later years.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Fox of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Laura (David) Mackaman of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Patricia (Kenny) Lehmer of Carlsbad, CA; granddaughter, Audrey Mackaman of Coupeville, WA; grandson, Will Mackaman of Iowa City, IA, granddaughter, Maggie Reese-Brown; and great-grandsons, Derek and Dylan Brown of Grimes, IA; plus many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fox; parents; siblings, Arnold Bogaard and Irene Menning; and step-sons, James and Russell Lautenbach.
Nancy’s family would particularly like to thank the caring and supportive staffs of Arbor Springs, Walnut Ridge Senior Living Center, A+ Home Care, and Hospice Care Services.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Memorial contributions can be directed to The Girl Scouts of America- Iowa Chapter.
As they say, “Ashes to ashes and dust to dust”, but in Nancy’s case no dust!
