Norman was born on November 26th, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Norman and Elizabeth “Betty” (Bergen) Wells.
For the last 15 years, Norman worked at the United States Postal Service, where he made many friends.
Norman loved his family—sisters, brothers, and many nieces, and nephews. He especially cherished his lifelong friends: Jeff, Pat, Greg, and Anthony. He looked forward to the dinners his sister Kathy made for him. He was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Norman loved music, particularly learning and playing new songs on his guitars, and teaching his nephews how to play. It was a special treat when he played in front of a trusted audience.
Over the years and throughout Des Moines and West Des Moines, Norman enjoyed having drinks with friends. Nothing made him happier than friends calling out his name when he walked in the door. He never knew a stranger. “Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came.” That was Norman.
He is survived by his siblings: Marianne (Kenny) Botts, Jim (Trudy), Richard (Sheila), Kathy (Randy) Stanford, and sister-in-law Lynn Wells. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, and his niece, Jessica Stanford.
