Paul Oxenford, 86, passed away peacefully at a daughter’s home in Des Moines on Thursday, May 22, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel where the family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Scranton Cemetery in Scranton, Iowa.
Paul was born in Scranton, Iowa on December 27, 1927 to John and Grace Oxenford. Paul’s achievements included playing semi-pro football, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, marrying the love of his life “Jo Cameron” and being blessed with nine beautiful daughters. His hobbies included spending time with his family and watching sports.
Paul is survived by his wife, Pat; his nine girls, Tanya Lacey, Shawna (Mike) Woodward, Tara (Larry) Mullen, Pazza (Steve) Lisac, Lexa Oxenford, Dena (John) Bardole, Paula (Rick) Ross, Randa Oxenford, and Maura (Steve) Amos; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings, Adeline, Ione, Robert, Shirley, Alice, Dean, John Robert, and Donald; his first wife and true love “Joey”; son-in-laws, Dr. Dan Lacey and Ralph Corbin; and his grandson, Lucas Eason.
