Phyllis Reynolds, 88, passed away March 13, 2014 at Calvin Community due to complications from Parkinson’s. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Phyllis was born October 25, 1925 in Davenport to Harvey and Helen Hinrichsen Whistler. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. Phyllis had various jobs in insurance and retired as an office manager for the Iowa Manufactured Housing Association. She married Richard Reynolds on August 27, 1948 and they spent most of their adult lives in Windsor Heights.
Phyllis enjoyed socializing, being with her family and friends, shopping, playing bridge, traveling, and being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and involved with PTA and other volunteer work. Phyllis was generous and always willing to help others.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Richard; daughter, Deborah Reynolds; son, David (Renee) Reynolds; grandchildren, Heath Reynolds, Megan Neese and Stephanie Johnston; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dolores (Vern) Hintze.
