Ralph Eugene Scott, 94, passed away on February 3, 2024 at his home at the Lodge of Ashworth. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church in West Des Moines with entombment at Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the mass time at the church.
Ralph was born June 21, 1929 in Des Moines to Clarice R. (Nash) and M. Ralph Scott. He grew up in West Des Moines and graduated from Valley High School in 1946. Ralph enlisted in the Navy and served for 3 years. He was recalled in 1951 and served during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. Ralph graduated from Iowa State University in 1954 and went to work at Bankers Life/Principal Financial Group where he worked for his entire career. He retired in 1993 as the Director of the Commercial Loan Closing Department.
Ralph is survived by three children, Debra (Gary) Heller, Karen (Bill) Robertson, and Sue (Bill) Hoffman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Jeanne) Scott; and very special friend, Marjorie Wakefield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Scott; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard (Virginia) Scott; sister-in-law, Lynnette Scott; son, Kevin Scott and grandson, Jason Heller.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Alzheimer’s Association.
