Ramona J. Shaver, 86, passed away August 12, 2013. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with the burial of her cremated remains following at Resthaven Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel.
Ramona was born December 19, 1926 in Bagley, IA to John and Orpha Van Cleave. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ramona was also a member of Windsor Presbyterian in Des Moines. She also served as the Wing Commander and Colonel of the Civil Air Patrol. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, gardening, and watching the Lawrence Welk Show.
Ramona is survived by her daughter, Linda McMahon; son, John (Brenda) Romig; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Harwood and sister-in-law Carole Van Cleave. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Romig and Bill Shaver; parents; sister, Patricia Van Cleave and brother, Douglas Van Cleave.
