Reginald Craig Hunter

Reginald Hunter, 62, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. Memorial services will begin at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801-19th St., West Des Moines, IA.

Reginald Craig Hunter was born into this world November 2, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mariola and William Hunter Sr. Upon graduation, Reginald enlisted and served in the United States Army from June of 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1976. He was an avid sports fan. All who knew and loved Reggie will forever see his face when watching a Raiders ‎game. He himself had participated in many sports including basketball and swimming. He played basketball for his High School team and also while serving in the military. Reggie was also a part of the Coyote Creek family for Pop Warner football. He resided in San Jose, CA after discharging from the military and then later moved to Phoenix, AZ where he retired from Tempe Dodge. Reggie loved so many things including music, reminiscing, and making people laugh....Reggie loved life. He will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help anyone without being asked. Reggie gave from the heart and this was obvious to all when he spent one on one personal time with you and this especially applied to the time spent with his children. In hard times, for many of us, Reggie was our pillar of strength, our foundation and our rock. He took with him a piece of each of us and life won't ever be the same without him.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his children; Johmeil Hunter of Chicago, IL, Phylicia Hunter of Monterey, CA, Cassie Hunter, Craig Hunter both of San Jose, CA and Jerimiyah Winfrey and Staci Smith of Phoenix, AZ. Brothers; William Hunter Jr and Lester Hunter, both of Des Moines, IA and Sisters; Dana Tate of Des Moines and Gaynell Carter of Banning, CA, Beautiful grandchildren, loving niece and nephew along with other family, many very good friends and acquaintances.

Reginald's battle is over and he is proceeded in death by his mother Mariola, father William Hunter Sr, Brother Kevin Hunter, Aunt Vera Spencer, and Uncle Curt Underwood.
