Richard was an Army Veteran and made a career of factory work. Richard was a family man with a fantastic jovial way about him. His presence was always felt. Once his infectious laugh and fun loving personality were revealed they would fill the room. Richard's great love for everyone was obvious and he made all of our lives a little brighter. Richard had several passions. One of those passions was the sport of bowling. He was nicknamed "Rocketman" by his friends and competitors. He loved having a good time with all of the guys and gals at several bowling alleys. His love of sports also included football. He was an intense lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Rarely did you ever see him not wearing those colors.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Lucille Savage and Dale W. Gooden. He is survived by his loving wife Janice (Murillo) Gooden, his sister Linda Cairns (Ken Cairns), his son Richie Gooden (Jen Gooden), his daughter Renee Arpy (Dean Owen), his grandchildren Brittney Underwood (Kyle Underwood), Jacob Gooden, Destiny Arpy, Morgan Gooden, Cassie Floden and several great grandchildren.
The family will dearly miss him.
The family requests that you wear Hawkeye colors.
