

Bob was born June 20, 1941, in Boone, Iowa to Richard and Rosalina (Hall) Benson. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He then ventured out into the world of employment where he wore many hats. He worked as Department Supervisor at Bourn’s Inc. in Ames, Iowa; Plant Manager at Con-Met in Bryson City, North Carolina as well as Cashiers, North Carolina; and Owner/Operator at Honest One Auto Care, Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Bob was an active member of Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, Iowa. He was a past Mason and member of the Shriners International. Some of his past times included: boating and water sports, playing and taking walks with his best canine friend (Bella), and reminiscing about old times and good memories. He spent many hours cheering on his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their various sporting events. He loved to spend as much time with his family as possible.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kristi Benson; daughter Lesa (Jim) Davis of State Center, Iowa; sons Dan (Johanna) Benson of Papillion, Nebraska; Sean (Tracy) Watt of Adel, Iowa; Robert (Tonya) Watt of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and Jamie Watt. Grandchildren: Cassandra (Jacob) Roberts, Carrissa Davis, Chloe Davis, April Benson, Audrey Benson, Kelby Watt, Ashlyn Watt, Anika Watt, Macey Watt, and Tyler Watt. Great-grandchildren: Beau and Elodie Roberts. One brother David Benson (San Diego, California) and one sister Patricia Benson (Eagle Grove, Iowa). Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 1 at Woodlands Creek Senior Living at 12675 Woodlands Pkwy, Clive, IA 50325 with a short prayer and music service starting at 1:30 pm and refreshments following until 3:30 pm.
