Bob Easler exhaled his last breath in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 7th, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and with his lifelong sweetheart, Vera, at his side. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 23rd, 2024 at Grace United Methodist Church with a one-hour visitation prior.
Bob was born on January 3rd, 1935 to Elmer and Bertha Easler in Cresco, Iowa. He graduated from Fredericksburg High School. Bob married Vera M. Easler of Cresco in 1956, and they had four children. His family was a center of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time bragging, sharing anecdotes or spending time with any one of them.
Bob worked for 30+ years with Gifford-Brown Inc. in Des Moines and always felt a part of the Gifford family. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1972 and had countless friends there.
Bob seemed to have limitless talents and many interests over the years. He was a voracious reader with a penchant for historical fiction, politics, and news. He had a love for model trains, painting, photography, telling jokes, cooking, baking, fixing everything himself, making custom greeting cards, and carpentry. Above all, he loved being invited to help with any sized project. There was nothing he was afraid to tackle and pretty much would not take “no” for an answer. He spent many hours building furniture for his family and helping them with projects from decks to additions and kitchen remodels. He took great pride in creating special things from his tireless imagination. He was our Google and Siri and always offered answers before we ever had to ask.
To all our benefit, Bob was the ultimate family man. He loved Vera dearly and cherished his children and grandchildren. He always had time to talk, help, teach, cook, build, share a story, and guide us. We are all blessed to have been loved by Bob.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Vivian.
Bob is survived by his wife, Vera; his four children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
