

Robert P. Foster, 84, of West Des Moines, died November 1, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Robert was born December 9, 1932 to Elmer and Jeanne (Capiten) Foster in Des Moines. He worked as the Vice President of the family business, Fair-Play Scoreboards. Robert served in the United States Navy from 1953-1954 and was a member of the American Legion Post 620. He loved playing golf, cycling and sailing with Jean and the girls. Robert enjoyed spending time on the beaches of Anna Maria Island, Flordia and at the family summer home on Gunflint Lake in Minnesota. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles and raced when he was younger. Robert was an outstanding jazz guitar player, horn player, and singer. Robert met the love of his life, Jean Ann, at the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines.
Robert is survived by his three daughters, Claudette (Don) Brandt of Washburn, Iowa, Joan (Howell) Clyborne of Campobello, South Carolina, and Paula Foster of Estes Park, Colorado; and one granddaughter, Ann Marie of Campobello, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jacques Yves Foster; and his wife of 62 years, Jean Ann.
