Bob Gill, 85, died peacefully at home in Clive on December 26, 2025. A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 30 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Des Moines, followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place afterwards at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Born August 18, 1940, in Canal Fulton, OH, the oldest son of eight children born to Robert and Helen Gill. After serving four years in the Marine Corps, in 1965 he settled in Iowa. Bob spent his career as an Operations/Tech Support manager with Preferred Risk/Guide One Insurance taking early retirement in 1997.
Bob enjoyed classic cars, fishing, camping, college sports, and Westerns. He was a history buff known for his tall tales and sense of humor. Bob was a great cook and loved hosting gatherings for family and friends.
Bob is survived by Susan, his wife of 45 years, siblings Rosemary (Leonard) Bodkin and Gary Gill, children Kristen (Steve) Moisen, David, Ashley (Mike) Cooper, Kayley, and grandchildren Cruz, Cam, Alaina, Tailor, and Hailie, brother-in-law Lee Saveraid, sister-in-law Marta Saveraid. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his infant daughter Kami, brother-in-law Craig Saveraid.
