

Robert W. Grubb, of Des Moines, Iowa, died peacefully at home on October 15, 2010 at the age of 95. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 19, at McLarens Chapel with entombment at Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Monday, October 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at McLarens Funeral Home.
Robert William Grubb was born on July 28, 1915 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to John Pearl and Irene (Mansfield) Grubb. Bob graduated from North High School and married Gertrude Ilene Neal on July 13, 1938. Bob went on to serve in WW II in the 3rd Armored SpearHead Tank Division and, among other medals, was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon return from WWII, Bob became a Des Moines Police Officer, attaining the rank of Captain and started the traffic engineering department for the City. During this period, Bob owned and operated one of the City’s largest used car businesses.
After selling the car business, Bob started a home building company, which he operated for over 20 years. Bob’s favorite past time was playing golf and he was a long time member at Hyperion golf and country club and a longtime Shriner in the Provost Guard.
Bob is survived by his son Stephen, brother, Jerry (Nancy), granddaughter, Brenda Grubb Eddy, grandson, Scott Grubb, and great granddaughter Megan Eddy. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, brothers John R. Grubb, Father James Grubb, Martin (Mickey) Grubb, sisters Julia Nelle and Jean Allen.
