Robert D. Schmadeke, 82, was called home on July 5, 2015. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Bob was born June 28, 1933 in Clarksville, IA to William and Gladys (Ritzman) Schmadeke. He grew up around Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo West High School. Bob then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent time in England and Africa. He worked as an executive for Coastal Mart, Inc. for 33 years.
Bob is survived by his son, Michael (Diane); granddaughters, Melissa (Justin) Cornwell and Emily (Josh) Cleaver; grandson, James Schmadeke; great-grandson, Drake Cornwell; brother, Gary Schmadeke and sister, Paula Glass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis and daughter, Pamela Weider.
