Rick McPhee, 62, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Memorial Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with inurnment at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines at a later date.
Rick was born January 7, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to Roderick and Dorothy (Phillips) McPhee, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and worked as a Pressman for 30 years for Plain Talk Publishing. He was a member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine in Altoona, Zag Trax and GCIU Local Union M157. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Rick is survived by his two sons, Troy McPhee of Des Moines and Kirk (Tammy) McPhee of Altoona; five grandchildren, Alex McPhee, Kaleb McPhee, Toni McPhee, Samantha McPhee and Kylie McPhee and two sisters, Linda (Larry) Kacer of Altoona and Phyllis Hetheriton of West Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Orval Douglas; two sisters, Cathy McPhee and Mary Roney Pfeffer and brothers, Gene McPhee and Phillip Douglas.
