Roger D. Stowell, 69, of Des Moines passed away on April 21, 2020 at a long-term care center in Ames following an accident in September 2019. Roger was born to Ernest and Dorothy Stowell on December 31, 1950 in Winterset, IA. Roger graduated from Winterset High School in 1969. He attended and graduated from Des Moines Area Community College in 1972. He joined the Iowa National Guard in September of 1971 and served until June of 1977. He was married to Judy Harder and to this union their son Greg was born in 1974. They later divorced.
Roger worked for several companies in charge of their computer operations and retired from Waldinger Corporation several years ago. Roger was very active with the Iowa Brittany Association and traveled to many dog trials throughout the Midwest.
Roger is survived by his sister, Shirley Mobley of Sioux City, nephew Kevin (Brenda) Mobley and their family of Overland Park, KS, niece Kristi (Tom) Rathje and their family of Seward, NE, and his long-time friend Marcy Beveridge of Des Moines. He is also survived by an aunt and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son Greg in 1991, father Ernest in 2002, mother Dorothy in 2019, brother John in 2016 and brother-in-law Earl Mobley in 1995.
The family will host a celebration of Roger’s life at a later date due to the Covid-19 virus.
