

Roscoe A. Bruner, 85, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at McLaren’s Chapel with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m.
Roscoe was born April 3, 1932 in Iowa Falls, IA to Watkins and Lillian May (Bailey) Bruner. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1950. Roscoe started at Meredith Printing after high school as a book binder, and retired in 1994. He was a 50 year member of Daylight Masonic Lodge as well as a past Master. Roscoe was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved to ring his cowbell every time they scored. He enjoyed watching movies and was especially fond of big band music. Roscoe spent the last 11 years at Plymouth Place. His family was very important and he loved being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roscoe is survived by his two children: daughter, Chris (Joe) Oetker of Boone and son, Les (Capi) Bruner of Norwalk; step-children, Patti Chipp, Larry (Liz) Chipp, Richard (Jackie) Chipp, Rick (Carla) Chipp, Jenita Chipp and Donna (Brian) King; grandchildren, Joey (Jessica) Oetker, Marymichele (Matt) Bailey, Kyle (Emily) Bruner and Blake (John Paul) Williams; nine great-grandchildren; many step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Maryalice in 1978 and Jenita in 2003; parents, Watkins and Lillian May Bruner; brother, Chuck Bruner; sister, Margaret Wignall; and step-sons, Ivan and Terry Chipp.
