Steve Courtney, 61, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel with inurnment at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Steve was born December 8, 1951 in Osceola, IA to John and Isabelle (Stephens) Courtney. He graduated from Valley High School in 1970 and was a salesman at Bob Brown Chevrolet. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Steve is survived by his wife, Laura Courtney of Des Moines; two daughters, Margot (Derek) McComas of Omaha, NE and Hillary Courtney of Des Moines; son, Will Courtney (Syniva Whitney) of Seattle, WA; one grandchild, Stevie Marie McComas; two sisters, Ann (Chris) Gall and Carol (Alan) Lundberg both of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Sara Courtney Washmon.
A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kavanagh House on 56th Street.
