Sylvia was born October 22, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa to Robert and Mary Pace. She graduated from North High School and work as a bank teller. Sylvia was an excellent cook. She was a hard worker and was very protective. Family meant the world to her and she loved her children and grandchildren. Sylvia was able to stay in her home and receive loving care from Brenda Bryant.
Sylvia is survived by her son Jack Close (Brenda Bryant); and her son Gary Close (Mindy); Grandchildren: Bryan, Brooke, Amber, Jenny, Jason, Collin, Anna, Mike; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces Rhonda Gould and Mary Gould Slaughter.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Pace, husband Jack V. Close, infant daughter Rhonda, daughter Lynn Close, son Rick Close (Lola) and son Tim Close (Denise Finn); sister Esther Robinson (Gene); her sister Pat Gould (Ronnie) brother Larry Pace (Sharon) and brother Roger Gustafson (Kathy); and grandchild Tosha.
A memorial graveside service for Sylvia will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa.
