Tommy was born on April 4, 1960, in Des Moines, the son of Thomas Henry Clay and Jo Hanna (Boling) Rains. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked for King’s Delivery as a driver for 37 years.
Truck driving was in Tommy’s blood, and he enjoyed his work. He enjoyed woodworking and working on motors and engines. His loving personality and eagerness to help others will be missed.
Survivors include his parents of Des Moines, brother Jeffrey (Jill) of Johnston, nephews Zach and Sam. He is also survived by his fiancé Linda Neese of Des Moines and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother Jason.
Graveside services will be at 1 pm on Friday, May 28, at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
