

Timothy Howard Skahill passed away on June 13, 2026. He was born August 17, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa and grew up on a farm in Peosta where he loved helping his grandfather, Frank Skahill, with chores. Tim attended Western Dubuque High School where he participated in baseball and basketball. Tim had a strong jump shot and his senior year he scored the first points in the first basketball game at the newly built Western Dubuque High School. Tim served in the Army Reserves 1966-1971 and attended Loras College.
In 1968 Tim married Margie Lahey and they made Cedar Falls and Waterloo, Iowa their home for many years. He worked as a stockbroker with A.G. Edwards & Sons, which was later acquired by Wells Fargo Advisors. After relocating to the Des Moines area, he retired in 2017.
Tim had a passion for cars and owned more than 100 vehicles over his lifetime. He would buy the dirty, unique, and/or collectible cars and detail them, enjoy them for a time and often sell them.
He was a proud supporter of the University of Northern Iowa where his daughters attended college. He was often in the stands of UNI basketball games with an abundance of popcorn.
Timothy is survived by his children, Amy Reynolds of Des Moines, IA and Molly (Jason) Lawry of Waukee, IA; his supportive ex-wife Margie Skahill and his grandchildren Eleanor Reynolds, William Lawry, Samuel Reynolds, Norah Lawry, and Joseph Lawry. He is also survived by his siblings Steve (Marilyn) Skahill of East Dubuque, IL; Janice (Steve) Timmerman of Lake Geneva, WI; and Bill Skahill of Peosta, IA. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Skahill; his mother Eleanor (Gotto) Skahill; sister, Nancy Koopmann; brother-in-law, Dan Koopmann, and son-in-law Don Reynolds.
Tim will be laid to rest near his parents at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Peosta, Iowa at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, with a Remembrance Gathering from 12:30-2:30 pm at Rhody’s Food & Spirits (14167 Old Hwy Rd, Dubuque, IA).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to ALS.org in honor of his mother, Eleanor Skahill.
