

Timothy H. Wilson, 79, passed away December 31, 2024 at the lowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. A visitation will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel. The funeral service will follow the next day on Tuesday, January 7th at 11:00 AM at the same location. Burial will follow at a later time in 2025.
Tim, as he was known to family and friends, was born November 26th, 1945 in Des Moines, lowa, where he lived almost his entire life growing up on the Southside before moving to Norwalk in 2014. A young, “Timmy”, could most often be found outside playing no matter how hot or cold.
Tim graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964, then furthered his education at Simpson College. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1966, where he exhibited true bravery, heroism and dedication, serving in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged.
After his service, he married his lifelong partner in 1969, Carol (Jarnagin) Wilson and they shared a wonderful life, celebrating 56 years of marriage in July 2024. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Tim was a beacon of kindness, having never met a stranger. He was known for his unwavering honesty and constant smile, lighting up every room he entered with warmth and cheer.
Tim dedicated his career to plumbing and steamfitting, he was a Master Plumber and proud member of the Local 33 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union. He finished his career as a Project Manager and Estimator, retiring from The Baker Group in 2006, where his hard work and expertise earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
His primary sources of joy and relaxation were watching his children, and his grandchildren participate in various sports, music, and dance performances which brought immense joy to his life. Tim devoted countless volunteer hours coaching his girls in softball, and lending his many talents to the South Des Moines Girls Softball league. Tim enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the lowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears; he was an avid and skilled golfer (known on the course as Fuzzy Wilson to his friends), and also enjoyed many fishing trips with friends and family over the years.
Tim was a proud member and supporter of the following organizations: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9127, American Legion Post #659, South Des Moines Lions Club, and Izaak Walton League.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Wilson, their two daughters, Kimberly Foltz, married to Travis, and Heather Kane, married to Jim. Sister, Nancy Warnes (Malibu, CA), and beloved grandchildren Tanner Foltz, Kaleb Foltz, Aidan Kane, and Addison Kane along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Juanita Wilson and in-laws Paul and Frances Jarnagin.
A special thank you to the staff of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, they provided amazing care to Tim during his nearly two years living there. Our family is forever grateful for their love and service to him.
Tim was known for his unwavering commitment to family, always prioritizing his loved ones above all else. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire the lives of his family and the countless people he touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
