Virginia “Ginny” Gayle Peterson, 75, passed away on September 29, 2025. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Ginny grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School before attending the Mercy Des Moines School of Nursing. She began her career as a nurse, serving from 1971 to 1988, and later worked at EMC Insurance in their worker's compensation department until her retirement in 2012.
Faith was an important part of Ginny’s life, and she was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed spending time with her cats, and her favorite hobby was cross-stitching, through which she shared her creativity with family and friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Michael; her daughter, Tracy (Kirk) Johnson; and her grandchildren, Maxwell and Melena Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Rosemary Allinson; and her sister, Nancy Mauk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Ginny’s honor.
