Vivian Ann Smith, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson. A Private Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Vivian was born January 12, 1926 in New Hampton, IA to Louis and Helen (Kramer) Brown. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Alter Guild. Vivian enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, traveling, walking with friends, and good memories of the Johnnie’s Vets Club.
Vivian is survived by her three children, Ronda (Dick) Gaston of West Des Moines, Sandra (James E.) Lyons of West Des Moines and Clayton (Pam) Smith of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Angie and Corrie Gaston, Chad (Stacey) Cooney, Shaun (Olivia) and Molly “Noodles” (Cole) Smith, Jessica, Jimmy (Sara) and Joe Lyons; two great-grandchildren, Nate and Sadie Primrose; and sister, Eleanor (Jim) Klenske of Waukon, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Virgil Brown; sister, Lorraine Brown and Travis Smith.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association of Iowa.
