Wendell Dean Bartlett, 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at McLaren’s Chapel with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Wendell was born August 26, 1937 in Waterloo, IA to Owen and Ardis (Dunbar) Bartlett. He was a maintenance supervisor at Crestview Acres in West Des Moines, a truck driver, and also owned his own construction company and restaurant. Wendell was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and computer games.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Lucille Bartlett of Des Moines; five children, Timothy (Tammy) Bartlett of Des Moines, Pam (Dan) Beaty of West Des Moines, Connie Bartlett of West Des Moines, Donald Bartlett of Des Moines and Michael (Leah Liston) Bartlett of FL; twelve grandchildren, Nick, Jeromy, Josh, Shane, Nathan, Chris, Chelcie, Kayla, Cassedee, Aiden, Matt and Dusty; nine great-grandchildren, Lili, Molly, Tanna, Daniel, Gianna, Sierra, Ryan, Grace and Kalin; sisters, Sandra Bonis of Waukee, Golda Knight of Des Moines and Roxan (Bruce) Stasium of WA; and brother, Russell (Diane) Bartlett of CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Frederick and Hezikiah Bartlett; and brothers, Jackie, Gene and Gary Bartlett.
