Waukee
William Wiley Giles, 97, died Sunday, January 30, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Bill was born on November 5, 1913 at the family farm home in West Des Moines to Chauncey and Eva Giles. He was a lifelong farmer and raised dairy cattle. He was born, lived his entire life and died all within a two mile radius.
Survivors include his three children, Richard (Carolyn) Giles of Rochester, MN, Linda (Dallas) Hakeman and Marlene (Dan) Warren both of Waukee; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Giles, Walter (Luella) Giles and Chauncey Jr. (Helen) Giles; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Margie, and second wife, Doris, and his sister, Margaret Schima.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Friday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Waukee United Methodist Church or an organization of donor’s choice.
