William “Bill” Robert Head, 87 passed away from Parkinson’s disease on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Bill was born April 26, 1927 in Clinton, IA and was a WWII Veteran. He was a resident of Des Moines for 80 years. Bill retired after working 38 years at Iowa Power and Light. He enjoyed fishing, riding his scooter around the neighborhood, and spending time with family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma (Kane) Head; daughter, Connie Beirman; sons, Ron, Kenny (Maria) and Keith (Beckey); five grandchildren, Rodger (Stacy), Alyssa, Kelsey, Bryan and Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Gauge, Faeleigh, and Ace; half-brothers, Ronnie (Bonnie) Boden and Marvin Boden Jr.; and a very special family friend, Marlow Hillger. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, William and Mabel (Hessel) Head; birth parents, William and Harriet (Birdsley) Capps; three sisters, Dorothy, Jodi and Betty; and half-sister, Goldie.
