Barbara A. Shea

She was born July 17, 1928, in Boston, the daughter of the late John M. and Elizabeth (McArdle) Boyle. She graduated from Our Lady of Presentation Academy and studied Architecture at the Boston Architectural Club.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Chester V. Shea of West Dennis; three sons, Chester V. Shea III and his wife, Leann, and their two children, Chester V. Shea IV and Jennifer Lee Shea of Leicester, MA; Robert J. Shea and his wife, Barbara and their two daughters, Meaghan and Kerrin, of Seabrook, NH; Gregory B. Shea of Weymouth, MA; and one daughter, Deborah A. Manning and her husband, Richard, of Dennis, MA, and their three children, Richard L. Manning and his wife, Catherine, of East Walpole, MA, Keith L. Manning and his wife, Clare, and their two children, Jack and Kate, of Suwanee, GA; and Barbara A. Manning and her fiancé, Steve Sollner of San Francisco, CA; and two sisters, Eileen Boyle of San Francisco, CA and Regina Gordon of Peoria, IL. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Agnes Holland, Grace Bonsera, and Gertrude Vogel and one grandson, Robert J. Shea, Jr.

Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grand-mother. Nothing in life made her happier than spending time with her cherished family. She devoted a great deal of her time serving as a Eucharist Minister and participating as a member of the Women’s Guild at Holy Trinity Church, was a former member of the East Dennis Ladies Aid Society, and volunteered at the Harwich Food Pantry. She enjoyed the craft of Nantucket Basket making, a hobby at which she excelled.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .

Visiting hours will be from 4p-7p on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street (Route 28), West Harwich, MA 02671. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Route 28, West Harwich. Burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Dennis, MA.
