Carole Ann Dunbar

Born June 22, 1940, daughter of the late Norman Peters and Gertrude S. (Chase) Peters, Carole was born and raised in Harwich, Massachusetts. She graduated from Harwich High School in 1958 and married John W. Dunbar that October at the East Harwich United Methodist Church, where she was a member. They raised their family in Harwich amongst close friends and family.

Carole was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt, cousin and friend. Through the years, she was an avid Boston sports fan, Carole enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots. She hosted many ball players in the Cape Cod baseball league. She was a Cub Scout den mother. Many camping trips with family and friends throughout New England as well as trips to Vermont brought Carole great pleasure. Spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, participating in church activities and reading were Carole’s greatest joys. In particular, Carole loved singing in the church choir at Harwich United Methodist Church.

She is survived by: two children, Lisa Dunbar-Link and her wife Sharon of Peabody, MA and Keith Dunbar and his wife Libby (Ramsdell) Dunbar of Essex, VT; three grandchildren, Paige and Chase Dunbar of Essex, VT and Ivalee Dunbar-Link of Peabody, MA. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John W. Dunbar and infant son John W. Dunbar Jr.

A Memorial Honor Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012, 2:00 pm at Harwich United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to The Harwich United Methodist Church, 1 Church St, East Harwich MA 02645.
