

Donns S. Nunes, at the age of 102, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2025. Donna was born in Harwich, MA on March 3, 1923, to the late Charles J. Lombard and Mary Louise (Silva) Lombard. She graduated from Harwich High School in the class of 1941. On January 6, 1945, she married her love, Norman Nunes, and together they shared 72 incredible years of marriage, raising five children and building a legacy rooted in love, laughter, and faith. She was a devoted wife and mother in which her family was the center of her life.
Donna was the heart of her family, known for her love and caring of others. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and endless hospitality. From holiday gatherings to everyday visits, her door was always open and there was always a welcomed seat at the table. She was nurturing and very generous to all. She taught her family the importance of being there for one another. Donna was also known for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit that so many enjoyed. She delighted loved ones and friends with her playful trumpet and clarinet imitations, entertaining yodeling performances, and joyful spirit. She also loved to dance and sing, often providing memorable family moments.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Donna poured her love into her family. She spent her early years as a stay-at- home mom until her children were older. She then worked part time at First National and West Dennis Market.
Above all, Donna was a woman of deep and abiding faith! Her love and dedication to her faith in God was paramount in how she lived her life! Her life was a living example of grace, devotion, and unwavering belief and trust in God! She lived a Christian life that was truly an example for all. Donna used to love going to church where she enjoyed singing God’s praises. She had a beautiful voice and frequently sang solos at her church.
Donna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman Nunes, and son C. Kemper Nunes. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn (Lesser) Perry, John C. Lombard, Charles J. Lombard Jr., and Phyllis (Lombard) Gonsalves.
She leaves behind her loving children, Norman J. Nunes of Harwich, Barry H. Nunes of Harwich, Stephen C. Nunes of So. Dennis, and daughter Susan J. Nunes of Centerville. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donna is also survived by her loving sisters-in-law, Ella Lombard of Harwich and Joan (Jake) Weaver of Bristow, VA.
Visiting hours and funeral service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Doane Beal, & Ames Funeral Home 260 Main St. West Harwich. Viewing will take place at 10:00 am followed by an 11:00am funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Rt. 134, So. Dennis, MA.
