Emma "EJ" Josephine Smith

EJ was born on June 22, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Joseph and Anna Rose O’Connor. She is a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College.

EJ was active throughout the community. She was a girl scout leader for many years, an active member at Holy Trinity church where she was awarded the Marian Medal, ran the shawl ministry, sang in the choir, taught in the Holy Trinity School, and much more. E.J. volunteered in the Dennis Yarmouth Elementary School System in kindergarten and first grade for many years. She enjoyed daily swims at the beach, trips for ice cream and spending time with her family.

She was the sister of Maryanne Donahue of Bellingham and the late Lawrence M. O'Connor of Maryland. She was also predeceased by her aunts Jean and Mable Kelliher. She is survived by her children Donna Smith of Dennisport, Tom Smith and Kris Loll of St. Pete, FL, Joanne Leach of Chatham, Mary Sue and Dieter Ganshaw of Harwich. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Dan Smith, Ryan Leach, Benjamin Smith, Steven Leach, Katerina Ganshaw, Christopher Leach, Josephine Ganshaw, Joshua Leach, Cole Smith and Samuel Smith Walker.

Visitation will be held at Doane Beal & Ames in Harwich Tuesday April 14 from 4 pm to 7 pm. A funeral mass will take place at Holy Trinity Church Wednesday April 15th at 11am. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Harwich, MA.
