George F. Barnett

George F. Barnett Sr., 82

George left his earthly home on June 3, 2015 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA surrounded by his loving family.

George was born in Boston, MA on September 25th, 1932. He was married to Lorraine (MacKay) Barnett for 58 years.

His service in the Korean War was followed by a long career at Gillette.

He lived in Canton, MA for 30 years before retiring to East Harwich, Cape Cod in 1991.

He was an active member of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Sharon, MA for many years, as well as the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church in Brewster, MA.

George was a kind, compassionate, and generous Christian, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He truly lived out his beliefs as a servant of the Lord.

He enjoyed travel, sports and music. Senior softball was a favorite activity of his on Cape Cod and he loved spending time play the harmonica and guitar with family and friends. For many years George also shared his joy of singing with the church choir.

George was predeceased by his parents Mabel and Russell and brothers Earl, Roy, Ronald, and Lawrence. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, son George Jr., his wife Reta, and four grandchildren Jonathan, Amanda, Shaina, and Reanne, as well as two sisters-in-law, Ruthe Barnett and Ruth Barnett, as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church building fund.

A memorial service will be held at Brewster Baptist Church on Saturday June 20th at 11AM.
