
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1931, Jack was the son of Herbert and Josephine (Hannafin) Bennett of South Hadley. A graduate of South Hadley High School, he proudly served four years in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Jack earned a degree from UMass Amherst, Stockbridge School, in 1957. He had a successful, enjoyable career as Director of Food Services/ Business Manager for 24 years at St. Mark’s School, Southborough, and, later, as Director of Food Services for Marblehead Public Schools for 11 years. For 7 summers he ran the commissary for the music students at Tanglewood in Lennox, MA. Jack was a charter member of the Southborough Rotary Club, and one of the founding members of the Southborough Pancake Breakfast Festival.
Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Smith Bennett; children, David M. Bennett of Hamden, CT; Elizabeth Bennett Andersen of Wilmette, IL; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey J. Bennett of Grafton, MA.
Jack was an avid woodworker and craftsman. He was loved and appreciated by everyone for his warmth and sense of humor. Private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
