Marie Gandolfa Gabriel

Marie G. Gabriel, age 90, late of 149 Riverside Drive, West Harwich, more recently a resident of Wingate Residences at Brewster, 855 Harwich Road, Brewster, passed away peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital on Friday, April, 19.

Born to Edward and Gandolfa Gabriel in Guttenburg, New Jersey, on July 3, 1928, Marie spent her childhood in North Bergen and Hudson Heights, New Jersey, and attended Cliffside Park High School, graduating in 1945. Following graduation she went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City, where she worked for some 37 years, retiring in 1982 as a supervisory electrocardiogram technician in the medical division.

Following retirement she purchased land at 148 Riverside Drive, West Harwich in 1983 and constructed her home on the property, becoming a permanent resident in 1988.

Her interests were many and varied. A lover of opera, she enjoyed attending performances in Manhattan and other venues in the New York City area. She was also a voracious reader and lover of books and in her retirement enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Harwich Port Library, 49 Bank Street Harwich Port.

She was a parishioner and communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, West Harwich.

Marie is survived by a niece, Marie Kovac, of Lopatcong, New Jersey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday, May 6, at 10:00 AM. All are invited to attend. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Harwich Port.
