Berry, Matthew Patrick, 34, of Harwich, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on the evening of May 7, 2016. A beloved brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend, Matt possessed a genuine kindness that is hard to find in this world. While most live self-consumed lives, Matt lived by a code of selflessness that endeared him to family, friends, co-workers and strangers alike. Naturally charismatic, Matt was known for his quick wit and humor which allowed him to relate with people of all backgrounds and develop long lasting friendships rooted in a deep sense of loyalty. He was the rare kind of person that you could let down your guard around and truly be yourself.
Matt enjoyed music, movies and spending time with this family and friends. He was the life of every party and often played the role of tireless host for his epic Halloween, Christmas, St. Patrick's and other celebrations. Matt's favorite role was of loving uncle to his nephews and niece - Michael, Calvin and Harper. He was never too tired or busy to make each moment with them fun and memorable.
Matt's kindness carried into his livelihood as he worked at the Harbor Point nursing home in Centerville as a chef for the elderly and ill. He also volunteered his time to teach his trade to the mentally and functionally challenged.
Matt was predeceased by his loving mother, Margaret Berry, with whom he shared a special bond that is undoubtedly reunited in heaven. He is survived by his beloved siblings Janice, Michael and Christopher as well as his large, yet remarkably close, extended family of relatives and friends.
He gave so much love in his painfully brief time with us that his heart could no longer keep up. Be easy Big Matt knowing that you are missed and loved.
