Rob grew up in Harwich, a graduate of Harwich High School Class of 1992. He was quite the athlete, playing tennis, soccer and baseball. He spent his summers on the beach, stealing his parents' cars when they were out and driving fast to fulfill his need for speed. He had motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats and even took flying lessons.
After high school, Rob moved to Boston and worked several jobs from valet and waiter, to a brewer. He finally settled into car sales for many years. After leaving Boston, Rob found one of his loves: the ocean. He got his captain's license and drove a ferry to the Vineyard for 15 years. Rob enjoyed working at Bosun’s Marina for the past few years.
Rob became a foodie in his 30s and was an amazing cook. However, anyone who knows Rob also knew that he was always in search of the perfect slice of pizza. And was often posting reviews of pizza places he tried.
Rob's true loves were his 2 sons, Quinlan and Mason. He was so proud of both of them.
Rob’s final gift was organ donation. He was able to give 4 families hope for a future with this gift.
Rob is survived by his sons and their mother, Lynn Hollenbeck; his sisters, Beth Higgins and Diana DeSantis; his brother-in-law Dan DeSantis; his father James and stepmother Deborah; as well as his nephews, aunts, cousins and many friends. Rob was predeceased by his mother, Karen Higgins.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution or to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit through the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation in Rob's honor.
