He was married to the late Jacqueline B. Doane for 32 years. Stewart was a lifelong Cape Codder grew up in Dennisport. He served in the Army with distinction during WWII in Japan. For many years he was a foreman for Merchant & Cassidy Building Co., and built many hotels and houses on the Cape.
Stewart is survived by his brother Carl Doane of Clarkston, GA, his niece Cindy Doane of Dennisport, and his stepson Charles W. Blanchard of Brewster. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who cared for him deeply and will be truly missed by his close friend Jean Fleming.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street, West Harwich.
