

Eva Urban Logan was born in Koniecznej of Gorlicach, Poland, on May 15, 1918. She came to the United States at the age of ten with her step father Alex Urban, her brother Max, and her sister Anne. She became a U.S. citizen through her father on December 5, 1929 at the age of eleven. She was issued a certificate of derivative citizenship on March 15, 1945.
She met Joseph W. Logan in the thirties and married him on April 23, 1939 in Hudson, NY. Two children were born in Hudson, Walter in 1940 and Joan in 1942. Eva's husband, Joe, in spite of serving seven years in the National Guard, wanted to join the army. Eva was opposed to this so they compromised, moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1942, and Joe took on a job at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where he worked as an electrician on Naval vessels including the battle ship USS Missouri.
In 1943 the family moved to 10th Street in Brooklyn. After the war in 1946 Eva and Joe bought a house on 56th Street Brooklyn where they continued to raise their children. In 1984 they moved to Rockville Centre. In 2005, her husband's health started deteriorating so they moved into an assisted living facility in Lynbrook, NY. After the death of her husband in December of 2005, Eva Logan opted to remain in the assisted living facility where she made many friends. She remained their until January of 2012 where she was admitted to Nassau Hospital for a health condition. That same month she was transferred to the Smithtown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing where she passed away peacefully in the common area watching television on May 3, 2012. She leaves behind her son Walter Logan and his wife, Rosemary, and her daughter Joan Logan Markley and her husband, Lynn. May her soul rest in peace.
