It's been one year since I lost you my dearest brother.  Not a day goes by without me thinking about you.  The memories I have growing up with you I'll cherish forever - for not only were you my dearest brother, my friend, my confidante - you meant the world to me. I cannot believe it has been over a year since you left this world.  Not a day goes by that I don't think about you.  I miss you very much, my “big brother”.  There is such a numbness, a void in my heart, having lost in the last two years, so many dear people that have always been a part of my entire life.  It makes me realize that time is marching by and I too am getting old and will one day join you.  Luckily I have many good memories to recall and carry me though my days. John was my first boyfriend in Astoria...when we were about 10 or 12!  We lost touch for over 40 years and then 2 or 3 summers ago, I was in Astoria walking by his house, only to find out he was visiting in Stuart Florida near where I lived!  Somehow we re-connected and he and Sharyn returned to Stuart the week after I came home and the 3 of us had a lovely lunch/reunion in Cracker Barrel!   I'm so glad we had that time together - to reconnect and reminisce.  My condolences to his wife Sharyn, and the two sisters that I knew growing up...Mary Ann and Veronica, and the rest of his family.   He was a great guy - then and now.  Gail Jahn VanTassel
