Carolyn Marie Hicks Carroll was born on March 9, 1945, to the late Inez Singletary Hicks Bogan and Leroy Hicks, and was lovingly raised with the support of her stepfather, the late Steve Bogan, Sr. She grew up in the historic Dunbar Village community of West Palm Beach, Florida. As the eldest of six children, Carolyn developed a strong sense of family, responsibility, and love that remained with her throughout her life.
Carolyn attended Palm View Elementary School and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Throughout her professional career, she served as a manager at Burdines Department Store for several years and later worked with the South Florida Board of Realtist.
Carolyn was a devoted woman of God, and her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully read her Bible, listened to the Word of God daily, and devoted herself to prayer.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Singletary Hicks Bogan; her father, Leroy Hicks; her stepfather, Steve Bogan, Sr.; her beloved daughters, Terri Melanie Mahoney and Bonita Inez Carroll; and her sisters, Pamela Hicks and Gail Hicks Leconte.
Carolyn transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly rest on September 23, 2026, at 7:34 p.m. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved son, William Carroll; her grandchildren; her surviving siblings, Harold Hicks (JoAnn), Patricia Bogan Stubbs (Patrick), Steve Bogan Jr. (Melba), Anthony Bogan, and Randy Hicks (Tracey); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Although her presence will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father, reunited with her loved ones.
