Born in West Palm Beach, Florida on July 24, 1958, Charlie James, affectionately known as CJ, Dad, Pops and Honey was the youngest child of the late Dorothy and Choice James. He has two sisters, Choicie Williams and Gayle Jones (Dwayne), and two brothers, Earnest James (Pastor Marilyn) and Marvin James, all of whom he held dear. Being the baby of his family, Charlie received extra attention and was doted upon by his siblings and parents. He graduated from John I. Leonard High School in 1976 and soon after began an ambitious career with the United Stated Postal Service for the next 36 years. While driven to succeed and determined to enjoy all that life had to offer, Charlie maintained a balanced and fun loving lifestyle.
On June 27, 1987, he was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Fredrica “Freddie” James. With love and devotion to each other, they had three children, Charlie D. (Diana), Chadwick Q. (preceded in death) and Christopher C. James. His boys could do no wrong in his eyes; His grandbabies Camryn and Carmelo James were the apple of his eye; Family was his greatest joy. Charlie became like a biological son to his in-laws, Audrey Thomas Robotham (the late,Gibson) and the late Clovis F. Thomas . He cherished a loving friendship with Catherine and Melvin McClary. He would never hesitate to assist them when called upon.
Charlie enjoyed the outdoors especially the beach, fishing, golfing; he loved Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C., he enjoyed cooking, dancing, chess, baseball and football, most notably The Washington Commanders, fka the Washington Redskins to whom he has been a faithful fan for over 30 years.
