Delores was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, where she lived her younger years. It was also in her young life that she accepted Christ. She was united in marriage to Dudley Coombs on June 4, 1960. From this union three children were born. Delores’ vision was to seek a better life for her family, so she alone migrated to Canada and eventually to the United States, where she lived in the greater New York area. While living in New York she was reunited with her spouse and children. The Coombs family ultimately settled in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1977.
Delores was a devoted mother, who focused on her three children. She is remembered as a parent who never turned her back on her children and for her “take charge attitude.” It was through her independence, courage, and determination that she became a successful business owner.
Her favorite pastimes were cooking, entertaining, going to garage sales, and having morning walks along the beach. Lastly, she was a very proud mother who expected devotion and loyalty from her children and for them to demonstrate the same to one another. She is forever etched in their hearts.
Delores leaves to cherish her memories; her three children, Hardley (Shanda), Delon (Tammy) and Courtney (Adrianne); 10 grandchildren Lakeshia, Nickolia (Kimberly), Joshua, Wendee, Jarren, Toren, Arianna, Alexis, Caleb and Camille; 6 great grandchildren, Londyn, Stori, Wynter, Sidney, Olive and Trinity Grace; 1 sister, May Bennett; niece Karen Bennett, nephews Trevor Daley and Alistair Bennett; close cousins Jenny Vann, Cecily (Lyn) Reid, Daphney Wynter and a host of family and friends.
Delores is preceded in death by Dudley Coombs; as well as sister, Beryl Daley Wilkins.
