This was an experience that instilled in her a lasting sense of commitment and earned her the National Defense Service Medal. Doris and William met while serving in the United States Navy.
In 1955, she began a lifelong partnership when she married the love of her life, William H. Emery. Together, they made the move in 1969 from Massachusetts to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they established their home and raised their family.
Never one to stop learning, Doris returned to school in her 40s, attending Palm Beach Community College where she earned her Associate's Degree in Mental Health, a true testament to her drive.
Doris was known for being vibrant and outgoing and taking pictures. She was truly the life of the party, with an infectious energy, and had a wonderful dedication to dressing up extravagantly for every holiday, birthday and occasion. “Let me finish my story”, she would often say.
Her deep faith was central to her life and she served the community for many years as a devoted Lector at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church.
Doris will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her sparkling personality and loving heart.
