Edrick Carl Trench was born on May 19, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the youngest of five children born to Grayson and Lucille Trench. “Eddie,” as he preferred to be called, was a lively and fun-loving child, who had a great sense of humor.
Gifted with athletic ability, Eddie grew to be six foot seven inches tall. He excelled in every sport, but especially enjoyed basketball. He also liked to bicycle, swim and go bowling and was never so happy as when he was physically active. Eddie enjoyed music as well and had a beautiful singing voice. He was a thoughtful person, concerned with the issues of the day, and he loved to read. He was fond of video games and comic books and loved the character ‘Batman.’
Eddie was a ‘gentle giant’ but his larger than life personality and imposing presence made people pay him attention wherever he went. These characteristics, combined with a wish to serve and protect, led to the career in security that he pursued for many years. He liked to say, in his humorous way, that he was “Ur guardian angel” and one felt very safe in his presence. Children and animals loved him, especially Sammy his dog.
In 2013, Eddie encountered health issues that sent him into a coma. He was not expected to regain consciousness. However, God was not done with him yet. He had a miraculous recovery, gave his life to the Lord, and was baptized. For the rest of his life, Eddie’s Christian faith was an example to others. He was a faithful member of New Life Fellowship church.
Eddie felt blessed to meet Margaret Williams and was looking forward to their marriage. But God had another plan. On August 8, 2020, He called him peacefully home. Eddie’s loss leaves a huge gap in the lives of those who loved him. Besides his fiancée, he is survived by his mother, Lucille Trench; his siblings, Dorothy Bonett, Ysolene Trench, Jefferson Trench, Eleanor Trench, and Melida Pascacio; and his brother-in-law, Michael Bonett. He had many nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father, Grayson Trench, and his brother Harrison.
Well-done, good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your Lord. Matthew 25:23
