

Mrs. Hooks, age 83 of Port St. Lucie, Florida formerly of West Palm Beach passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on December 20, 2010. She was born on December 18, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Mr. Gerrit Plantinga and the late Mrs. Florence I. (nee Lagerborg) Plantinga. Mrs. Hooks moved to the Palm Beach County area in 1971 coming from Huntsville, AL. Esther was a former member of the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach and also a former three year resident of Christian Manor. She spent most of her leisure time enjoying sewing, playing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite game shows (Wheel of Fortune) and associating with family and friends. Mrs. Hooks was preceded in death by her late husband, Burnace Hooks and one of her grandsons, David Williams in 1990. Esther never met a stranger and was a blessing to all!
Survivors include her seven children; Philip M. (Judith) Hooks of Jupiter, FL, Cheryl (Stan) Lincoln of Lake Worth, FL, Mary (Steve) Fischer of Inverness, FL, Daniel Hooks of Lake Park, FL, Rebecca (Bryant) Harrison of Port St. Lucie, FL, Elizabeth (Glenn) Millet of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Sarah Katherine (Rick) Hodgkins of Blairsville, GA; her thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and her last surviving brother, Warren (Eddie) Plantinga of Chicago, Illinois.
Friends may visit from 9AM – 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6411 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach, FL. A Celebration of Esther’s life will be held 2 PM that same day at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach, FL. Donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 10360 South Federal Highway #1, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953 in Loving Memory of Esther L. Hooks.
