Esther Ricardo, a Cuban born naturalized US Citizen, immigrated to the US in 1970. She lived in Yonkers N.Y. until 1982 by which time she moved to Miami, FL . Mrs. Ricardo is survived by her four children, Nora Tarrago, Hugo Ricardo, William Ricardo and Esther Garcia. She was a doting and caring grandmother to her grandchildren of Orlando, Carlos, Luis Hugo, Sandra, Nora, Nelson and Willie. She was fortunate to see all of her grandchildren marry and was privileged to be a Great-grandmother to Andy, Luis, Garrett, Alexandra, Gabriela, Karina, Katia, Aidan and Addison. We will miss her advice and counseling in living a healthier life; we will also miss her smile and laughter!

I will never forget the impact she made in my life. She was kind, loving and caring. She exhibited unconditional love, and a zest for life!! All the way until her last breath she wanted to be independent . She is my Iron Lady! She was a dominant /strong lady to raise 4 children by herself in Cuba.. She was the epitome of staying young by surrounding herself with her grandchildren. I remember as clear as yesterday, a lady coming out of a train in 1970 upon her arrival from Cuba. A lady with high heels, a black dress and ear rings came looking fabulous.. That was our Abuela.!
Abuela may not have had a college education but she had good common sense ! She gave us life lessons.. To her last breath I will always remember.. Her saying 'Carlo remember the advices I gave you... The many advice I gave you please don't forget them.'I said yes abuela I will remember.. Knowing her days were numbered she said 'those were pretty advices I gave you.'. I wish I had told her I love those advices before her departure to a new world we do not know! She is at peace and I am grateful for a loving family that were surrounding her during her last days on earth.

The memory I will always have of Abuela as a young boy growing up, before tucking me in at night to sleep, we would kneel next to my bed and we would pray together. She taught me how to pray El Padre Nuestro and Ave Maria in Spanish and we would always end with a special prayer that I still pray to this day and think of her each time. It goes, "Cuatro pilares tiene mi cama, cuanto Angeles que me la guarden, Juan, Lucas Marcos y Mateo. Acuestate Willito y no tengas miedo". I have been blessed to have been in her life and I will always miss her. She loved me unconditionally. She will always be in my heart, forever and always.
Friends may join the family to celebrate her life from 12:30 - 3 PM with the burial to follow at 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL, CREMATION & EVENT CENTER at HILLCREST 6411 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
