Gerardo L. Lopez

Gerardo L. Lopez age 82 of West Palm Beach, Florida was led by his beloved son, Gerardo Lopez, Jr. up the winding walkway and through the Gates of Heaven into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 3, 2014. Gerardo was born on September 24, 1931 in Regla Havana, Cuba to his eagerly awaiting parents, the late Mr. Prudencio Lopez and the late Mrs. Juana Maria Barquin. In 1967, Gerardo migrated from his hometown of Regla Havana, Cuba to the United States of America, settling in New Jersey on the path to becoming a Naturalized Citizen. He soon found work with the Longshoremen's Union in New Jersey where he worked for the local Port Authority. After his retirement he migrated to the South Florida area to settle in Palm Springs with his family. Gerardo loved to play Domino's, work in his yard and garden planting a variety of native plants to spruce up his yard and vegetables to stock his cupboards. Besides his love of nature, Gerardo loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a most sincere, gentle and lovable person; never allowing anyone to be in need of assistance without offering his helping hands. Gerardo lived up to the bible verse as quoted in John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." He has truly earned a crown of righteousness for his namesake. Gerardo loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and regularly worshipped with his family at the Iglesia Genesaret in West Palm Beach; where he also played the Conga's with the church choir. Gerardo will be forever remembered and honored by his wife, Olga Lopez of West Palm Beach, Florida, his admired son, Prudencio Lopez and wife, Zoila; his two adored daughters, Olga Lydia Tejeda and husband, Segundo and Maria Elena Lopez and husband, Victor; and daughter in law, Leonela Lopez; his eleven treasured grandchildren and eight precious great grandchildren.
