Gloria Iris Melendez

Gloria Iris Melendez, 61, in keeping with her loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate, so others may live. She was a people person and loved to give to those who needed it the most. She was a beloved wife, stepmother, step-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, sister in-law, cousin and friend.

She was born on December 4,1963 in Moca, PR from parents Filomena Acevedo and Pedro Lopez. She lived a life full of adventure moving from Moca, PR to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a young age and then branching out to settle in West Palm Beach, FL.

Gloria Iris is survived by her devoted husband, Jorge Melendez, her dog Cowie, her 3 stepchildren Arnaldo, Carlos, and Arleen, her 8 step grandchildren, Marilyn, Miliannie, Siarah, Gianna, Jonathan, Julian Luis, Ethan, and Ayden. Her siblings Julio, Gladys, Ifrain, Luz Maria, and Jose. She is also remembered by her nieces, nephews, brother in-laws, sister in-laws and a wide circle of friends

She met her true love 39 years ago on a dance floor and they have been inseparable ever since and finally marrying him on October 11, 2008. They lived a life full of love and happiness. Her warm embrace and firecracker personality won the hearts of everyone around her. She loved to cook, travel, garden, and cruise the world next to her husband. She was always full of beautiful dreams and goals. Together her and her husband bought their dream home in her hometown Moca, PR and started the process of enjoying the retirement life moving full-time to Puerto Rico.

Gloria Iris love for life was evident in everything she did, touched, and everything she cooked was made with such love. Her strength and resilience inspired those around her and left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a hard devoted worker dedicating 25 years and 3 months to tropical shipping starting from the bottom and working her way up to Documentation Leader. She was truly loved everywhere she was.

As we mourn the loss of Gloria Iris, we also celebrated the legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us to live each day with grace, gratitude, and generosity.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who provided compassionate care to Gloria during her care. Your kindness and support will always be remembered.

Gloria Iris Meléndez, de 61 años, fiel a su espíritu amoroso y generoso, tomó la decisión de donar para que otros pudieran vivir. Era una persona sociable y le encantaba ayudar a quienes más lo necesitaban. Fue una amada esposa, madrastra, abuelastra, hija, hermana, tía, prima, cuñada y amiga.

Nació el 4 de diciembre de 1963 en Moca, Puerto Rico, hija de Filomena Acevedo y Pedro López. Vivió una vida llena de aventuras, mudándose desde Moca, PR hasta Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a una edad temprana, y luego estableciéndose en West Palm Beach, Florida.

Gloria Iris deja atrás a su devoto esposo, Jorge Meléndez, su perrito Cowie, sus tres hijastros Arnaldo, Carlos y Arleen, y sus ocho Nietos políticos Marilyn, Miliannie, Siarah, Gianna, Jonathan, Julián Luis, Ethan y Ayden. También la sobreviven sus hermanos Julio, Gladys, Efrain, Luz María y José. Es recordada con cariño por sus sobrinos, sobrinas, cuñados y un amplio círculo de amistades.

Conoció al amor de su vida hace 39 años en una pista de baile, y desde entonces fueron inseparables, hasta casarse finalmente el 11 de Octubre de 2008. Vivieron una vida llena de amor y felicidad. Su cálido abrazo y personalidad chispeante conquistaron los corazones de todos a su alrededor. Le encantaba cocinar, viajar, sembrar en su jardín y recorrer el mundo junto a su esposo. Siempre estaba llena de sueños hermosos y metas por cumplir. Juntos, ella y su esposo compraron la casa de sus sueños en su pueblo natal, Moca, PR, y comenzaron el proceso de disfrutar la vida de jubilación mudándose a Puerto Rico a tiempo completo.

El amor de Gloria Iris por la vida era evidente en todo lo que hacía, en todo lo que tocaba, y todo lo que cocinaba lo hacía con un amor inmenso. Su fortaleza y resiliencia inspiraban a quienes la rodeaban y dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Fue una trabajadora dedicada, entregando 25 años y 3 meses a Tropical Shipping, comenzando desde abajo y ascendiendo hasta convertirse en Líder de Documentación. Fue sinceramente querida en todos los logro donde estuvo.

Mientras lamentamos la pérdida de Gloria Iris, también celebramos el legado de amor, bondad y compasión que deja atrás. Su espíritu continuará guiándonos, recordándonos vivir cada día con gracia, gratitud y generosidad.

Su familia desea expresar su más sincero agradecimiento a los médicos, enfermeros y cuidadores que brindaron atención compasiva a Gloria durante su cuidado. Su amabilidad y apoyo siempre serán recordados.
