Born on February 8, 1952, in White Plains, New York, Harris devoted nearly five decades of his life to the ministry. He was an evangelical pastor with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, serving congregations in Ohio and Florida. After his pastoral positions, he served as the Assistant and the District Superintendent until his retirement. With a deep love for scripture and a shepherd’s heart, he led with humility, conviction, and compassion—touching thousands of lives with his teaching, counsel, and unwavering faith.
Harris was a lifelong student of the Word, earning multiple degrees throughout his ministry. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Nyack College in New York. He received both his Master of Arts and Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, Illinois. And, he earned a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. These accomplishments reflect his deep commitment to understanding and faithfully teaching God’s Word.
He is survived by his cherished wife of nearly 53 years, Kathleen Campbell, and their three sons: Matthew, Mark, and Jonathan, who carry on his legacy of integrity and strong family values. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, always present at their activities, games, and milestones. Harris is also survived by his two brothers, Jeffrey Campbell and Steven Campbell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Campbell Engles, whom he loved.
Though deeply thoughtful and grounded in faith, Harris also had a wonderful sense of humor—a quick wit that lifted spirits, disarmed tension, and made both sermons and dinner tables more joyful. His laughter was generous and often contagious.
Beyond the pulpit, Harris was devoted to serving others in any way he could. He volunteered his time to Alliance Peacemaking, reflecting his deep commitment to biblical reconciliation and helping others pursue peace in their relationships. He also found joy in cultivating orchids, researching genealogy, and most of all, showing up for his family with unmatched consistency and love.
